Whitley Strieber is an American writer best known for his horror novels The Wolfen and The Hunger, and for Communion, a non-fiction account of his alleged experiences with non-human entities.
Born June 13, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Strieber began his career writing speculative fiction and horror novels in the late 1970s, establishing himself as a unique voice within the genre. His early horror works like The Hunger and The Wolfen were both adapted into feature films.
In 1987, Strieber published Communion, a purportedly non-fiction account of his experiences with unknown entities that he initially interpreted as alien beings. The book became a #1 New York Times bestseller and dramatically shifted the direction of his career. Since then, he has continued to write both fiction and non-fiction works that explore themes of consciousness, metaphysics, climate change, and the unknown.
Throughout his diverse and prolific career, Strieber has consistently pushed boundaries and challenged readers to question reality and consider possibilities beyond conventional understanding.
